THE OPPORTUNITY

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics, Cardiometabolic Division is looking for a MARKET ACCESS DIRECTOR EMEA (M/F/D)

Multiple locations in Europe or UAE/Middle-East.

You will report to the Regional General Manager EMEA and will be in charge of securing Market Access for Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Cardiometabolic (ARDx CM) products for Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, CIS, Middle-East & Africa. In this role you will lead and drive the development and implementation of the Market Access Strategy framework for ARDx EMEA CM. Also as part of this role and in close cooperation with corporate and divisional key functions you will co-lead Governmental Affairs activities in EMEA CM.
Typically the role requires a minimum of 5-6 years of experience working in a relevant Market Access and/or governmental Affairs role in the Health-Care Industry. Frequent travel across Europe, Middle East and Africa is anticipated (up to 50% of time). MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

MARKET ACCESS RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and implementation of access strategies for key EMEA growth countries in close cooperation with regional and local commercial functions as well as key global stakeholders.
  • Lead development and implementation of the EMEA access strategy framework as blueprint for local access strategy developments and build and facilitate an EMEA access community evolving capabilities, skills and strategic access capabilities
  • Understand, describe and prioritize most relevant (influential, accessible) market access stakeholders (payers, governmental bodies, industry associations, professional associations and other stakeholders) for key growth markets in EMEA
  • For selected key markets build trusted and strategic relationships with key decision makers, stakeholders and KOL’s to anticipate relevant local payer´s and relevant political stakeholder´s agendas, plans and objectives in developing healthcare policies and funding decisions of focus countries
  • Understand the specific needs of payers and reimbursement-related stakeholders and identify mutually beneficial partnering opportunities (e.g. public private partnerships)
  • Analyze market access trends / health policy changes and continuously map reimbursement requirements for on market products. Anticipate access barriers and cost containment risks. Negotiate funding and price (if applicable) and support our products in reimbursement negotiations and health technology assessments.
  • Differentiate our products adapting and a global value story to local healthcare context in order to avoid price erosion and get preference. Develop appropriate communication platforms to reinforce the value messages for our products (e.g. workshops, payer info material).
  • Partner local sales and marketing organization to ensure effective collaboration and execution of emerging business opportunities.
  • Partner with global relevant functions to inform product development & pricing based on MA customer needs. Develop launch plans for new products mapping out local coding, coverage and payment requirements.
  • Consolidate planning and actions in local market access strategy & implementation plan considering short term and mid-term business goals.
  • Be a subject matter expert in HTA (health technology assessment) and EbM (evidence-based medicine) recommendations on the relevant diagnostic parameters in EMEA CM.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS CO-LEAD:

  • In cooperation with Corp Gov Affairs engage with relevant community and policy makers to build awareness around the relevant disease areas and the value of ARDx CM diagnostic markers in improving efficiency and effectiveness of patient management and helping to continuously improve outcomes
  • In cooperation with Corp Gov Affairs teams drive initiatives helping to shape local health care policies to support POC testing for relevant parameters in scope
  • In cooperation with Corp Gov Affairs build the needed relations and network with local key stakeholders including KOLs and Health Care decision makers

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) or Master’s Degree preferable in in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Economics or Health Policy
  • At least 5 years’ experience in pharma / diagnostics/ medical device industry, health policy or related functions of payers/HMOs/disease management organizations.
  • Strong understanding and track record of market access from strategy building to tactical execution. Functional experience in
  • Market Access and its key drivers including driving adoption of new diagnostic parameters at key target customer groups, public private partnerships to positively impact health-policies and public coverage/reimbursement of innovative health care products.
  • Broad knowledge of factors driving public coverage and private payer reimbursement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a complex virtual team environment across functional and commercial teams and different organizational levels to deliver results.
  • Hands on experience/understanding of Point of Care Diagnostics business environments would be beneficial but is not a must have
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills and excellent relationship capabilities. Strong informal leadership skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of initiative required.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively engage organizational leadership and communicate project progress, issues and solutions.
  • Proficient English language skills are required, any other main EMEA language (i.e. German, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic) would be an asset.

REGULATORY AFFAIRS MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:

The Regulatory Manager will be responsible to coordinate and manage the Regulatory activities for the IVDs portfolio in a selected set of countries in Africa and as well assist the RA regional lead with Regulatory Activities of the African Region

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the Development of regulatory submission strategies in collaboration with manufacturing sites, supply chain, marketing, commercial affiliates and distributor countries to ensure successful registration and approval of products in selected countries
  • Work closely with relevant manufacturing sites and other functions to obtain all the necessary documents to support product registration, renewal or amendment to existing product certificates in a timely manner.
  • Review regulatory documents and files (including product label, promotional materials, manufacturing change requests, and registration packages), record product filings, approvals, and registration activities.
  • Execute plans, complete tasks according to priorities, align work with business goals, and align actions with agreed strategies.
  • Track regulatory milestones in required Regulatory tracker
  • Monitor and anticipate changes in local regulations and inform relevant stakeholders in a timely manner. Conduct impact assessment and plan for execution plan accordingly.
  • Establish strong connections with internal and external stakeholders
  • Represents RA at relevant meetings.
  • Ensure compliancy of Alere Nigeria entity with regards to all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage any queries pertaining to regulatory requirements and post market surveillance / regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations in Nigeria and other countries under responsibility and their applicable guidelines and monitor development of regulations for the regions.
  • Review promotional material for regulatory applicability for Alere Nigeria and regulated countries under responsibility

REGULATORY INTELLIGENCE AND REPORTING:

Communicate changes to regulation and its impact to the legal manufacturer and other internal stakeholders.

Support day-to-day activities and clarifications of the Regulatory Product inclusion process when required.

PRODUCT REGISTRATIONS

  • Support the preparation and timely completion of submission of registrations for in vitro diagnostic devices (assays, instruments, software) to meet project and business needs for ARDX division for different business units – IDEM, CM add Tox for the region under responsibility
  • Participation on cross functional project teams to provide input to the QARA Director that enables strategic guidance to meet regulatory requirements for new product introductions pertaining to specific to the regions.
  • Verify that impact regulatory assessments for new product introductions conducted by RA support staff, for the responsible countries and assist in the development of registration plans
  • Conduct Assessments and applicable documentation of changes in product, manufacturing processes, labeling affecting IVD products distributed in the countries under responsibility
  • Work closely with commercial regional teams and leads and align on business requirements and objectives

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Engineering, Medical/Biomedical background or other science related field
  • 6-8 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs in Medical Devices in Africa, ideally in IVDs in preferred
  • Experience in working in a multi-function team environment
